Raising Your Bulldog Puppies

by Bobby Callahan

French Bulldog puppies are very friendly and eager to please as result of their nature. Although they are very aggressive with other dogs despite their gentle nature with humans. So you need to take the necessary time in order to properly socialize your French Bulldog puppies with other people and pets. If there is every any aggression towards humans then you need to take your puppy to a professional trainer right away.

Take your French Bulldog puppies around other people and pets from an early age to help them socialize. Let them play and interact with strangers in a public area, but make sure you establish your authority over the dog. In order for your pet to be obedient later in life the dominance needs to be established early on. If you don’t establish authority early on then you will find it difficult to gain later on because of French Bulldog puppies are extremely dominant. Your puppy also needs proper socialization in order to develop an even temper.

It is also important when raising French Bulldog puppies that you get them their vaccinations and then maintain their yearly booster shots so that they remain immune to common diseases. You will also want to ask your veterinarian about flea control products and worming treatments.

For French Bulldog puppies you also want to make sure you feed them a high-grade dog food. Meat should be the first ingredient in any high quality dog food. Make sure it contains no less than thirty percent crude protein, twenty percent crude fat and four percent fiber.

Each day you want to make sure your puppy gets at least thirty to forty-five minutes of exercise. Due to their active nature, French Bulldog puppies will require a lot of activity. To avoid fights with other dogs, make sure your puppy is on a leash when outdoors. Even the calmest puppy at home will quickly turn into an entirely different dog once it is faced with another dog on a walk outside.

It is also important to start obedience training early. Since French Bulldog puppies are a dominant breed you want to be able to command them through your voice alone. However, since the breed is eager to please you can often get better results through positive reinforcement rather than physical. The cold shoulder approach is best when disciplining French Bulldog puppies. This is because the breed thrives on attention and not giving it to them is worse than any newspaper or other disciplinary methods.

You also need to be calm when raising French Bulldog puppies. This plays an important part in raising the breed. If your dog is near you when you are afraid of a person or feels you are in danger from someone they will attack that person quickly.

Therefore, when around strangers it is important to remain calm otherwise you need to maintain tight control over your dog so they don’t needlessly injure another person.
