Poodle Training: Where To Start

Of all the different issues that are of importance when it comes to raising a Poodle, Poodle training is definitely one of the most important. It is essential that every Poodle owner begin training their dog while they are still young, when still a puppy. This way they will be taught how to behave and will grow up to be a well-mannered and properly behaved adult dog.

It is best to begin training these dogs when they are young, while they are still puppies, so that they can grow up to be as polite and well behaved as possible. There are many different aspects that need to be taken into consideration when it comes to Poodle training, but a few that are especially important.

There are many important aspects involved with Poodle training, and one of the most important of all is to teach them what they can chew and what they cannot. The best way to do this is to buy them some toys and then teach them that they are allowed to chew these and nothing else.

Teaching a Poodle not to chew and destroy the home is one of the most important parts of Poodle training. This is because Poodles, just as most other breeds of dog, will tear up things around the home if they are not aware what is okay for them to chew and what is not. One of the best things a Poodle owner can do here is buy the dog toys and teach them to play with these toys rather than things around the home.

There a few things that should never be done here and in particular this means no chasing the puppy to take something away because they will just think that they are playing. Remember that any area that the puppy is going to be playing in should be kept clean and clear, so that they will not become confused and be unsure of what they can play with and what they cannot.

When it comes to Poodle potty training, it is important to remember that Poodles respond better to positive reinforcement than to anger and yelling. It is important not to get frustrated when training the dog and instead remember that they will learn by trial and error, and not by getting punished.

Take the puppy outside on a regular basis and show it the proper place to go or, if paper training, keep the paper in the same place. Expect accidents and be consistent. Reward your puppy when the proper place is used and clean up any accidents quickly and completely to discourage use of the improper place again.

There are several different training methods that can be used to train a Poodle, but positive reinforcement has shown to be the best. Use treats and both verbal and physical praise to show the dog when they are doing right and this will make them feel good and strive to do better. Training any dog often takes a lot of and requires a lot of patience, but it can be done, and it will be well worth it in the end.
